Food. It’s a basic staple of life. For many of us, we take it for granted. When we are hungry, we go to the fridge, the cabinet, or the pantry and get something to eat. When those are empty (and I would bet that for most of us, they are never really empty), we go to the store and buy more. This luxury is not possible for many in our world who face a daily struggle to meet the body’s need for food. For many, there is no fridge, cabinet, pantry, or even table to eat on. As you listen to Jesus speak into this situation and see God’s provision, take some time to evaluate your own relationship to food this month. How much of our consumption is really necessary and how much is luxury? Also remember that hunger goes beyond just food. What are you really hungry and thirsty for in your life? What do you crave?
