Imprints Year Two
Temptation. Without a doubt, it is something with which we are all familiar. We are on level ground when discussion temptation because each of us faces it every single day of our lives. If we think about it, however, most of us would admit that it is difficult to imagine Jesus being truly tempted. And yet, the scripture clearly says that he was . . . and was victorious over it. The temptation of Jesus was also a time of clarifying his identity. What did it mean to be the "Son of God?" What did it mean for the Holy Spirit to descend on him like a dove and then drive him out into the wilderness? What did it mean for Jesus to be "the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world?" Similarly, what does it mean for us to carry around our identity as Children of God? These are the questions we will wrestle with through our January series.
